Sandra Erica Jovel Polanco is a Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala with 18 years of career experience. She obtained a degree in Political and Social Sciences with a focus on International Relations from Rafael Landívar University and a Master's in International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid. She studied various types of subjects related to security, defense, migratory phenomena and regional integration.

Sandra Erica Jovel Polanco was in charge of issues of integration, foreign security, bilateral foreign policy, international cooperation, migration issues, border ports, as well as being responsible for the planning and organization of various government summits, state visits, ministerial conferences, others. Also she has served in various technical positions and managers in the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry, and as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Guatemala in Colombia. She assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in August 2017. She is the second woman to occupy this position in the history of the Guatemalan Foreign Ministry.
