The Ambassador
H.E. Vasco Mushe Samupofu
H.E. Vasco Mushe Samupofu is a Namibian career diplomat serving as Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the international organisations in Vienna. He studied politics at the University of Namibia and later completed professional training in diplomatic practice.
His previous service includes work as Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Namibian High Commission in Pretoria, senior responsibilities in the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation dealing with regional and multilateral organisations, and service at Namibia's Permanent Mission to the United Nations. His experience covers regional diplomacy, multilateral affairs and international cooperation.
History
Austria and Namibia have maintained very good relations since Namibia gained independence in 1990. Austria supported Namibia's path to independence and subsequently developed cooperation in political dialogue, development, trade, investment, education and culture. The relationship is also strengthened by tourism and people-to-people contacts, while Namibia's resident embassy in Vienna provides a platform for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
