Berlin Independent Film Festival 2016
A Great Opportunity for Indie Films and International Emerging Talents
February 17th, 2016Today, February 17th, is the last day of the Berlin Independent Film Festival, which is taking place every day from the 11th February at the historic Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte, Rosa-Luxemburg-Str. 30, 10178.
As a growing centre for low-budget filmmaking in Europe, the Berlin Independent Film Festival (BIFF) has already reached its 6th successful edition. Starting from the aim of discovering new emerging film talents, the festival offers many business opportunities for up-and-coming filmmakers, attracting participants from all over the world.
Even if the BIFF takes place at the same time as the famous Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), it is important to underline that the two events are not connected.
As a matter of fact, the Berlin Independent Film Festival was established in 2010 as a response to the commercial festivals, offering screening opportunities for indie films and giving special attention to films made by first- and second-time directors and films achieving amazing results with small budgets.
The Awards competition of the BIFF includes several categories, among them feature, documentary, sci-fi, horror, LGBT film, short film, animated short, and music video.
The festival has an exciting program of films, but also includes a number of workshops and networking events, which combines the commitment to indie filmmaking ideals with a solid understanding of their potential in the marketplace. Moreover, during these workshops and social events, attending filmmakers can help each by sharing their experiences and provide advice and tips.
Finally, we remind the international audience that all films at Babylon are always screened in English or with English subtitles. They are scheduled at 6 pm, 8 pm and 10 pm every night, and the cost of the ticket is 8 euro per show.
