Embassy of Peru in Germany Commemorates the Anniversary of National Independence
Berlin celebrates Peru's 203rd Independence Anniversary with cultural events and community gatherings
September 03rd, 2024To mark the occasion of the 203rd anniversary of Peru's independence, the Embassy of Peru to Germany held an official reception on July 25, which also provided an opportunity to remember the bicentennial of the battles of Junín and Ayacucho.
The official event took place at the Hotel Aquino in the German capital and was attended by more than 380 guests, including German government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, representatives of cultural and academic institutions, and members of the Peruvian community.
Peruvian Ambassador Augusto Arzubiaga highlighted the strong state of bilateral relations between the two countries, which is reflected in various areas such as trade volume, international cooperation in cultural, educational, and multilateral matters, and the high-level visits from President Dina Boluarte to Germany.
The evening featured a showcase of Peruvian music and a gastronomic exhibition, where dishes like ceviche, papa a la huancaína, ají de gallina, and pisco sour were the most celebrated.
On Sunday, July 28, a national holiday mass was held at the St. Nikolaus Spanish Catholic Mission Church in Wittenau. The Peruvian community residing in Berlin participated in this liturgical celebration, during which the messages delivered by the President and the Chancellor on this special day were shared.
