The embassy of Ireland in Berlin presented on the 7th of February 2023 an acoustic session of music and spoken word - led by a surprise special-guest Irish artist - inviting those with a song or other party piece to share and sing or play along. The event travels around Germany and has taken place in Cologne and Stuttgart as well. But in the beginning of February, it was Berlin’s turn.

The female gaze is the main focus of the evening and is a concept that refers to the perspective or viewpoint of women in art, media, and culture. It is a counterpoint to the "male gaze", which refers to the way in which visual media are structured around the heterosexual male perspective.

The female gaze challenges the traditional objectification and sexualization of women in art and media by emphasizing their agency, subjectivity, and diverse experiences. It seeks to represent women as complex, multidimensional individuals rather than mere objects of male desire.

The female gaze can be seen in various forms of art and media, including film, photography, literature, visual art and music (such as the Irish event). It often involves a focus on female characters and their relationships, experiences, and emotions, as well as the use of different visual techniques and perspectives.

The event took place on the February 7, 2023 at Loophole in Berlin and admission was free.
