The Journalist José Giribás Remembers the Nearest Past with the Exhibition "Tiempos de Cambio"
October 30th, 2014
News from Berlin - As reported earlier, the exhibition "Tiempos de cambio" which remains open until December 12th, discovers the days before and after the fall of Berlin Wall through 75 photographs taken by Chilean journalist José Giribás.
On October 28th was an important day in this exhibition, which is taking place at the Instituto Cervantes. Giribás himself conducted a guided tour through the exhibition. About thirty people enjoyed the journalist’s personal thoughts and experiences.
The photographer was truly excited about the pictures of the pre-fall Wall protests, which took place in Alexanderplatz. Giribás, who suffered repression at that time, had to leave his home to avoid the confiscation of his valuable photos.
The jewels of the exhibition, in the words of Giribás, are the portraits of people at that time, as they outlined the general feelings of those days: fear, surprise, happiness.
The author himself confessed to the audience that he had chosen the photographs and had printed them.
This visit is part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall organized by the Cervantes Institute, an institution focused on the expansion of Spanish culture beyond the borders of the European country.
The exhibition will remain open until December 12th and admission is free, so we encourage you to attend.
