Between 18th June and 25th September, 2022, Documenta presented work from the most influential artists of our time.

With the help of their leading partner, Volkswagen, they introduced a WeShare fleet in the city of Kassel where all people over the age of 21 and with a driver's license are allowed to use the Volkswagen ID.3 cars around the city, during these exhibitions of arts, with the help of an application. This service is already running in both Berlin and in Hamburg and offers all users electric cars that operate under a free-floating system in order to get around when Documenta Fifteen is active. These cars can be used within an area of twelve square kilometers and are free to park anywhere within the WeShare area.

There are 14 permanent charging stations around the city that can be used for these cars and the electricity used is of 100% sustainable green energy. Beyond this, Volkswagen is contributing with 50 free rental bicycles for visitors to use when getting around to see the venues of the Documenta exhibitions. This concept has been developed by the Indonesian artist group Ruangrupa that also managed the preparation of the exhibition after the group was appointed by Documenta’s International Finding Committee in 2019.
