Zambia’s Strategic Participation at ITB Berlin 2024 aimed to Boost Tourism Inflows from Germany
Optimistic Outcomes Expected from Increased Engagement and Collaboration
April 18th, 2024Zambia’s participation at the 2024 ITB Berlin trade show is poised to significantly enhance the country’s efforts to attract more tourists from Germany. The event, recognized as the world’s largest tourism trade show, was held in Berlin and drew critical players from over 180 countries.
At the conclusion of the ITB Berlin trade show, Ambassador Chibesakunda, Zambia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, expressed optimism about the outcomes of Zambia’s efforts to increase tourism inflows from Germany. Her engagements with various stakeholders from the tourism sector provided an excellent platform for Zambian exhibitors, helping them showcase their products and services effectively and gain valuable insights into the German market.
Ambassador Chibesakunda noted that these discussions are expected to help tailor Zambian travel packages to meet the diverse expectations of potential travelers from Germany. She also emphasized the importance of ongoing collaborations between countries, particularly in marketing unique tourism attractions interlinked between nations. Such collaborations, she mentioned, could extend the marketing of these attractions throughout the year rather than just during specific migration periods or selected times of the year.
The Ministry of Tourism led the Zambia delegation at ITB Berlin, and Hon. Rodney Sikumba, the tourism minister, headed the delegation. The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) and several private sector participants also represented Zambia. These included Voyagers Zambia DMC, Konkamoya Lodge, Lilayi Lodge, Memorable Journeys, Wild Dog Lodge, Chikunto Safaris, North Kafue Safaris, Tryyambia Tourism & Lifestyle, African Vacations, Corporate Air, and Livingstone’s Adventures. Others were Classic Zambia Safaris, Lion Camp, BlueBerry Travels, Mukalya Game Resort, Bundu Safari, Mwamfushi Safari Lodge, Zikomo Safari, Radisson Blu Mosi-Oa-Tunya Resort, and African Escapades.
With such robust participation, Zambia aims to capitalize on the opportunities presented at ITB Berlin to promote its unique tourism attractions and foster economic growth through increased tourism inflows from Germany.
