The New Zealand Embassy co-organizes this exhibition, seeking to promote New Zealand art internationally and in the Berlin art-scene.

Wayne Youle's much anticipated solo exhibition, "40 Days & 40 Nights" is officially opened on Friday 5th of July by Alexandra Smithyman, Deputy Head of Mission of the New Zealand Embassy in Berlin.

Wayne Youle's diverse practice is underpinned by his multi-cultural New Zealander native heritage. This is reflected in his work, which addresses issues of identity, race and the commodification of cultural symbols. Having background studies in design, he works comfortably across a wide variety of media. In this exhibition, Youle’s works, whether collage, painting, mural or sculpture, reflects a fascination with the visual language of popular culture, and a questioning of how history and identity are written. "40 Days & 40 Nights" brings together found imagery and two poems, each 40 lines. This new series effectively questions the relationship between text and image, and the values we place upon each.

The event will take place in Michael Reid Berlin (Ackerstr.163, 10115 Berlin, Germany).
