Violin Virtuoso Pavel Šporcl and the band Gipsy Way in Berlin marked the 25 years of the Visegrad Group

Rich cultural Event at the Czech Embassy

The 25th anniversary of the Visegrad Group took place in the Czech Embassy in Berlin on the 17th of May 2016. The gala event, was attended by over 300 guests from such diverse groups as the diplomatic corps. German government institutions and various economic, cultural and social spheres. One notable absence from the event was that of Jan Bartoška, the Vice President of the Czech Chamber of Deputies.

The event was co-organized by the embassies of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in Berlin with the support of Volkswagen AG.

Speeches were made by the Ambassador Tomas Jan Podivinsky and by the Agent of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs for relations with the EU, Joachim Bleicker and by Sales Manager of the Volkswagen Group Alexander Thill. Their contributions highlighted how successful the format of Visegrad cooperation is, its historical roots and the importance of relations with which the Visegrad group has with Germany in the field of foreign, economic and cultural policy.

Violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl accompanied by dulcimer band Gipsy Way performed on the night. Guests had on this occasion the opportunity to view an exhibition of the Visegrad Group and taste the specialties of the national food of the Visegrad states.
