Vardo Rumessen Concert at the Estonian Embassy

News from Berlin - The Estonian Embassy in Berlin will host a concert of the famous Estonian pianist, musicologist and politician Vardo Rumessen. Vardo was born into a family of musicians in the coastal city of Pärnu in southwestern Estonia in 1942. Vardo’s father was a choirmaster and a music teacher. His mother was an opera singer. Mr. Rumessen graduated from the Tallinn Music School and then the Tallinn Conservatory.

Being strongly devoted to music over his long professional path, he has worked as a Concert Master of the Tallinn Conservatory Opera Studio, an Associate Professor of Piano, and a Music Producer of ‘Estonian Concert’, among others. In the end of the 1980s Mr. Rumessen also got involved in politics and combined a political career with his passion for music.

Today Vardo Rumessen is considered to be one of the best known promoters and interpreters of Estonian piano music and Eduard Tubin’s pieces in particular. He is the Chairman of the International Eduard Tubin Society and has been the Artistic Director of the International Music Festival ‘Eduard Tubin and his Time’ since 2001. The Concert will take place on Tuesday, May 20th at the Estonian Embassy in Berlin at 18:00.
