UNESCO Marks The International Day Of Cooperatives
Global Event Highlights Culture And Sustainable Communities

UNESCO is supporting international efforts surrounding the 2026 International Day of Cooperatives by highlighting the contribution of community cooperation, cultural participation and inclusive development to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The observance brings together governments, civil society organisations and local communities to exchange experiences and strengthen international partnerships.
Celebrated annually in early July, the International Day of Cooperatives showcases how cooperative organisations contribute to sustainable economic development while preserving local traditions and encouraging community participation. The 2026 edition places particular emphasis on resilience, inclusion and international collaboration.
