On June 24, 2019, the Irish Embassy in Berlin hosted two authors Linda O’Grady and Kristina Riess that presented their book “From the Bürgeramt to the Bedroom” and answered the questions on moving to Germany.

Moving to Germany has its perks, however, it can be challenging for those unfamiliar with German rules. “From the Bürgeramt to the Bedroom”, written by an Irishwoman living in Berlin and a German teacher, serves as a guide through German way of life. The book aims to navigate you through the various bureaucratic procedures, as well as normal everyday tasks such as doing the shopping or driving on the right side of the road. Furthermore, it offers specific vocabulary on a range of topics and answers to the most pressing questions.

The event was moderated by the Consul of Irish Embassy – Angela Kennedy. After the book presentation, the guests had a chance to share their own experience of moving to Germany and dealing with local rules as well as exchange practical advice. A relaxed evening of cultural exchange ended with a wine reception.
