News from Berlin. The U.S. Embassy Literature & Lecture Series features a number of cultural and literary events with renowned speakers, critically acclaimed writers and new talent. The Embassy Literature and Lecture Series was established in 2008 to celebrate the return of the U.S. Embassy to Pariser Platz.

On February 11th, Michael Lederer will be reading from his upcoming romantic novel, ‘Cadaqués’ at the English Theatre Berlin as part of this year’s U.S. Embassy Literature & Lecture Series. ‘Cadaqués’ is a story of hard drinking artists and writers in Salvador Dali’s fishing village near the Spanish / French border and a wild love affair. The story follows the characters Cal, an Amerian writer who drinks more than he writes and Layla, a beautiful young English woman interested in literature.

Michael Lederer is an American novelist, short story writer, poet and playwright currently living in Berlin, Germany. He is also the Founder and Artistic Director of the Dubrovnik Shakespeare Festival in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Lederer is currently working on a new novel, ‘The Land’, to be published in the autumn of 2014. ‘Die Welt’ has called him “among the great American writers.”
