U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday to negotiate and sign a number of defense, security, and trade agreements. Moreover, he also visited the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, and met with Kuwaitis who studied in the United States.

Kuwait is the first stop Secretary Pompeo makes on his region tour, followed by Lebanon and Israel. The focus of the talks is primarily on economy, investments, and energy issues. However, Pompeo also focused on strengthening the U.S.-Kuwait relationship.

Pompeo met with Kuwaitis who studied in the United States and with the State Department’s International Exchange Alumni, as he believes “academic and professional exchange creates bonds between future leaders in government, business, and other sectors.”
