The Tunisian Embassy Invites You to the Cinema

The promotion of Tunisian cinematographic expression in Berlin

The Tunisian Embassy has organized the presentation of Tunisian film by Laila Bouzid “As I open my eyes” with the collaboration of the association of “Ulme 35” to seek the spread of the Tunisian artistic initiatives specially here in Berlin, as well as throughout the world.

Young and prominent director Leyla Bouzid presents here new work at the Tunisian Embassy in Berlin the 21th of June, “As I open my eyes”. It takes place in Tunisia right before the Revolts of the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011, telling the story of a young Tunisian student whose parents wants her to study medicine, however she is focused on pursuing her career as a singer. This movie teaches us how to believe in ourselves and follow what we truly want, showing off the beauty of the persons nature framed with a particularly Tunisian narrative that show the reality how it is, inspiring the people to challenge it.

The film was released for the first time in 2016 for the German public and count on numerous nominations and awards such as Best Muhr Fiction Feature Award at the Dubai International Film Festival Award.
