The Sri Lanka Tourism Press Conference at ITB 2024

Ambassador of Sri Lanka for Germany, Chalaka Gajabahu, and other representatives of the country inform the press on the progress of Sri Lanka tourism

The ITB Berlin Convention, the world’s leading travel industry think tank, recently concluded its 2024 event, where over the course of three days, top international travel and tourism industry thought leaders gathered to discuss the latest trends, innovations, and developments, and to debate the major challenges facing the global travel industry.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Press Conference at ITB 2024 was held on the second day of the event with the participation of over 50 reputable journalists and travel influencers from Europe, predominantly from Germany.

Building on the tourism momentum gained in 2023, the press conference was an ideal platform to keep the media informed on the progress Sri Lanka Tourism has made to date in terms of tourist arrivals, revenue, increased airline connectivity and new tourism experiences offered by the destination. Sri Lanka Tourism aims to attract 2.3 million tourists in 2024 and earn over $4 billion, with a long-term target of 5 million arrivals and $21.6 billion in revenue by 2030.
