On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camps, the Spanish Embassy in Berlin will host a commemoration event on May 2nd at 7:00 PM, focusing on historical memory and the figure of writer Jorge Semprún.

The event will take place at the Spanish Embassy in Berlin, located at Lichtensteinallee 1, 10787 Berlin, with access through Thomas-Dehler-Straße starting at 6:30 PM. The program includes the opening of the exhibition "Jorge Semprún. A European Life in the 20th Century", organized in collaboration with the Ettersberg Foundation. The exhibition pays tribute to the Spanish intellectual's life, a Buchenwald camp survivor and symbol of the Republican exile.

As part of the program, the panel discussion "The Spanish Women of Ravensbrück" will take place in collaboration with Amical de Mauthausen and Amical de Ravensbrück. This conversation will focus on the story of over 400 Spanish women deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, many of whom lost their lives under extreme conditions.

The panel will feature Margarita Català, Àlex Rigol, Mar Trallero, and Ricard Valentí, moderated by diplomat and writer Helena Cosano. The discussion aims to highlight individual stories and contribute to the recovery of democratic memory.

With this initiative, the Spanish Embassy in Berlin reaffirms its commitment to historical memory and cultural cooperation, promoting the recognition of Nazi victims through dialogue and remembrance.
