On 21 June, 2024, The Royal Thai Embassy in Berlin strengthened ties with the German-Thai Association (Deutsch-Thailändische Gesellschaft-DTG) at a reception for the society's members during their study trip to Berlin.

Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra, along with his wife and embassy officials, welcomed a delegation of 24 members of the German-Thai Association at the embassy. The occasion was marked by the delegation's study trip to various important sites in Berlin that are related to Thailand. In his welcome speech, the Ambassador, as the Honorary President of the Association, emphasized the dynamic relations between Thailand and Germany, which have seen significant exchanges of high-level government representatives earlier this year. He also highlighted the government's policy to promote Thai culture and related industries in five sectors: food, film, fashion, festivals, and martial arts. Additionally, he praised the society for its activities that enhance awareness of Thai history and culture.

Professor Dr. Frauke Kraas, President of the German-Thai Association, thanked the embassy for organizing the reception and commended the embassy's efforts to promote Thai-German relations in various fields.

Furthermore, the embassy organized a lecture on the relationship between Buddhism and the Thai monarchy, inviting Dr. Natthaphon Charat, a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, as the speaker. Dr. Natthaphon delivered a lecture on the topic "From the Siamese Script Tripitaka of King Rama V to the Universal Tripitaka of King Rama IX," emphasizing the role of Thai kings as Dharma rulers who uphold and promote Buddhism. He highlighted the kings' authority in nurturing Buddhism in all important aspects, including the publication and dissemination of the Tripitaka in Germany and worldwide. He also stressed that the kings are devout Buddhists who strictly adhere to the Ten Royal Virtues in governing the country. This lecture not only spread knowledge about the royal activities related to Buddhism but also was part of the celebrations for His Majesty the King's 72nd birthday on July 28, 2024.

At the reception, the New Heritage Sprout group, a talented youth group from Thailand trained by National Artist in Performing Arts (Film and Theatre) of 2019, Chonprakhan Chanruang, performed a fusion of traditional Thai music with international elements, along with a modern Khon dance performance.

The German-Thai Association, established in 1962, is a longstanding Friends of Thailand group with approximately 400 members, including teachers, academics, businesspeople, students, and the general public, most of whom are Germans with a connection to Thailand. The Association publishes a magazine three times a year, providing knowledge on various aspects of Thailand, and also organizes activities in different cities across Germany.
