The philharmonic orchestra of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala will perform at the Berlin Philharmonie during Musikfest Berlin 2024, one of the most important events of the German music scene.

With its 135 musicians, the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra is considered one of the world's best orchestras for opera production and symphony.

On the 29th of August, it will play at The Berliner Philharmonie as part of the framework of Musikfest Berlin 2024.

The performance will be under the direction of Riccardo Chailly with a tribute to the great music of the 20th.

The concert will open with the sounds of the composer Luciano Berio's "Quatre dédicaces".

The program will continue with Wolfgang Rihms' "Dis-Kontur" and the famous orchestral suites No. 1 and No. 2 from Maurice Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloé", which Igor Strawinsky called "the most beautiful thing that all French music has produced".

The participation of the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra underlines the enduring influence of Italian culture on the global stage and in Germany, as The La Scala has become synonymous with Italy’s rich artistic heritage and commitment to excellence in the arts.

The orchestra’s performance in Berlin is also in the context of Italy’s distinguished role as the Guest of Honor at the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair, the Frankfurter Buchmessе.
