The Konrad Adenauer Foundation Kenya’s Representative Mr. Gregor Jaecke had a meeting with H.E. Amb. Joseph Magutt at the Berlin Chancery on July 30th, 2015. The meeting’s aim was to strengthen German-Kenyan cooperation.

The new project that entered into power recently between Germany and Kenya, is a four-year project co-founded by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development with the purpose of establishing capabilities for effective devolution in Kenya.

The assignment will cover ten County Governments and focused on groups from the Council of Governors, County Authorities, local journalists and the media, for example. Local Non-Governmental Organizations like the Catholic Justice and Peace Commission, the Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance and the Mobilization Agency for Paralegal Communities in Africa are enlisted with the Konrad Adaneur Foundation on this project. The Konrad-Adenauer- Foundation is a political foundation whose aim is to promote freedom, justice, and solidarity all over the world. It is named after the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967).

According to the Federal Foreign Office the political relations between the two countries have a tradition of close partnership across-the-board and good relations in the fields of politics, economy and culture. Germany and Kenya have a tradition of close partnership based on wide-ranging relations in the political, economic and cultural spheres. Germany was the first country to officially recognize Kenya after it gained independence in 1963. Kenya’s regional political prestige makes it an important partner in a crisis-ridden region, which includes countries such as Somalia and South Sudan. Kenya is a priority country of the German development cooperation. German media and most of Germany’s political foundations gave regional offices in Nairobi. Besides its embassy in Nairobi, Germany also has an honorary consul in the large coastal city and seaport of Mombasa.
