The Institute for Finno-Ugric Language Studies in Vienna turns 50 this year

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Institute for Finno-Ugric Language Studies in Vienna organized a two-day celebration on May 27th and 28th, featuring a series of academic lectures, discussions, and gatherings that brought together scholars, students, and language enthusiasts from around the world.

These events not only highlighted the rich linguistic heritage of the Finno-Ugric language family but also fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and research findings.

The highlight of the celebration was a grand reception held at the Hungarian Embassy, with collaborative support from the Finnish and Estonian embassies.

The celebration also took place in The Institute for Finno-Ugric Language Studies itself. Some of the program highlights were :
