The First Newton Flight Academy in the EU Opened Doors in Brandenburg
US Ambassador Gutmann participated in the first flight simulation
July 04th, 2024In Cottbus, Brandenburg, the first Newton Flight Academy in the EU opened its doors to help youth reach the sky (literally).
Following openings in Beijing and Istanbul, the American Newton Flight Academy reached the EU and opened its first center there in the city of Cottbus.
At the flight academy, students can learn to fly in a fun way and develop a passion for science and technology.
This is the only place in the EU where simulation flights for students are possible.
Also, in the center, future pilots can practice flight maneuvers such as headwinds and turbulence in a safe environment before going into real conditions.
Although the academy primarily focuses on school classes, there are also programs for preschool children as a part of Newton Flight Center’s global network.
The project is a "beacon of innovation" and a "great sign of international cooperation", as noted by US ambassador Amy Gutmann who was an honorable guest at the opening and participated in the first simulation flight.
Brandenburg Minister-President Woidke, Mayor Schick, and Boeing President Haidinger attended the ceremony together with the US ambassador.
Registration for classes in the academy has already started and the official schedule will be released on the 13th of July.
