History

Saudi Arabia.jpg

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its national day on the 23rd of September each year. This day is celebrated to commemorate the unification of the Kingdom and its founding.

Bilateral relations between Germany and Saudi Arabia were formalized by the friendship treaty between Germany and the Kingdom of Hejaz, Najd and its affiliated territories in 1929.

Germany has maintained diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1954. Like other Arab nations, the Saudis are sympathetic towards Germany. Many there would like to see Germany play a greater role in the world politics, particularly in resolving the Middle East conflict, but in other regional conflicts as well.
