The Embassy of Nigeria in Berlin Strengthens Cultural and Economic Ties Through the Nigerian–German Expo 2025
A showcase of innovation, heritage, and partnership between Nigeria and Germany
November 12th, 2025From October 3 to 5, 2025, the Embassy of Nigeria in Berlin hosted the Nigerian–German Business & Cultural Expo (NGBCE 2025), an event designed to celebrate the growing relationship between Africa’s largest economy and Europe’s industrial powerhouse. Held at the Haus der Wirtschaft and supported by the Nigerian–German Business Forum, the expo combined cultural showcases, economic dialogues, and networking opportunities that highlighted Nigeria’s creative and entrepreneurial vitality.
The three-day event brought together a diverse audience of business representatives, government officials, and cultural practitioners from both countries. Panels and presentations explored bilateral trade, digital innovation, renewable energy, and education exchange — while parallel exhibitions featured contemporary Nigerian art, photography, textiles, and gastronomy. The Embassy’s pavilion offered a vibrant glimpse into Nigeria’s cultural diversity, with traditional music and dance performances accompanying presentations by Nigerian start-ups and creative entrepreneurs.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, representing the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Germany, emphasized the shared values that underpin the partnership: “Our collaboration with Germany goes beyond business — it’s about building bridges of creativity, technology, and human connection.” His statement set the tone for an event that sought to redefine diplomacy as a multi-layered space where art and economy intersect.
A highlight of the Expo was the “Innovation Meets Heritage” forum, where German and Nigerian innovators discussed the role of culture in sustainable development. Speakers from Lagos’ creative industry and Berlin’s start-up ecosystem exchanged perspectives on how storytelling, design, and digital platforms can foster inclusive growth and mutual understanding.
The Embassy also collaborated with Berlin-based institutions such as the Afrika Medien Zentrum and Haus der Kulturen der Welt to ensure a strong cultural dimension to the event. Culinary demonstrations, film screenings, and a closing fashion showcase by emerging Nigerian designers underlined the country’s global creative influence.
For the Embassy of Nigeria in Berlin, the Expo represented a milestone in its ongoing effort to reposition cultural diplomacy as a strategic pillar of international cooperation. By weaving together artistic expression, business innovation, and educational dialogue, the Nigerian–German Business & Cultural Expo demonstrated how embassies can serve as catalysts for a new, forward-looking partnership between Africa and Europe.
