The Embassy of Nepal in Berlin collaborated with Himalaya Restaurant in Kassel to Promote Nepal in the Region

The two-day event encompassed speeches, musical and dance performances, a delightful sampling of Nepali cuisine, and a simulated Everest expedition

Over the course of two days, attendees enjoyed a speech by H.E. Mr. Ram Kaji Khadka, Nepal's Ambassador to Germany, along with captivating cultural performances. The program also included a simulated Everest expedition to the Hercules monument, offering a unique and engaging experience for all.

On the first day, the program kicked off with a warm welcome from Mr. Gajendra Neupane, owner of the restaurant and event coordinator. Following his opening remarks, there were presentations and speeches.

H.E. Mr. Ram Kaji Khadka, Ambassador of Nepal to Germany, then took the stage to emphasize the vital role of tourism in Nepal's economy. He discussed the tourism revival strategy for the 'tourism decade 2023-2032', highlighting government policies aimed at diversifying Nepal's tourism offerings. Additionally, he addressed the environmental challenges posed by global warming and climate change to the region's water towers, stressing the importance of sustainable practices.

The Ambassador also underscored the significance of people-to-people relations between Nepal and Germany, bolstered by tourism. He praised the contributions of German and European mountaineers in promoting Nepal as the ultimate destination, urging all attendees to plan a visit to Nepal in the upcoming seasons.

Throughout the event, guests enjoyed delectable Nepali cuisines prepared by Mr. Santosh Shah, the BBC Master Chef. The atmosphere was further enriched by captivating performances of Nepali cultural dance and music by a talented group of artists.

On the second day, a simulated Everest expedition was organized, starting from the Himalaya Restaurant and leading to the Wilhelmshöhe palace park and the Hercules monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany. The monument stands at an altitude of 500 meters and entails more than 1000 steps in each direction. A model Everest Base Camp was set up to underscore its significance in summit preparation, with Mr. Gajendra Neupane interviewing the 'Everest Man' on this topic.

Approximately 50 participants engaged in the model expedition, covering a distance of around 11 kilometers over four hours. Meanwhile, the Embassy showcased Nepal's tourist attractions through stands, brochures, posters, and videos, aiming to generate a positive impact on the German market.

The event saw a diverse array of participants, including notable figures such as H.E. Mr. Ram Kaji Khadka, Nepal's Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Sagar Phuyal, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy, and legendary mountaineer Mr. Kami Rita Sherpa, also known as the 'Everest Man'. Additionally, Mr. Santosh Shah, BBC Master Chef, Mr. Phurba Gyaltsen Sherpa, Board Member of NTB and tourism entrepreneur, and Mr. Bertram Hilgen, former Mayor of Kassel city, were in attendance.

Dr. Barbara Hermann-Kirchberg, City Councillor, Dr. Christoph from the International Relations Department at IHK Kassel-Marburg, and Ms. Beate Thome from Children's Fund Global Care Foundation were among the distinguished guests. Dr. Karim Sohyoun, a migration expert, and Ninamma Rai, Chairperson of NRNA-NCC Germany, also joined the event.

The gathering included Nepali artists, students, friends of Nepal, tourism enthusiasts, as well as mountain lovers.
