H.E. Mrs. Ei Ei Tin is a highly courageous, resilient, and deeply respected career diplomat with decades of rigorous service within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar. Possessing deep expertise in multilateral negotiations, public international law, and human rights frameworks, she represents the legal and democratic diplomatic continuity of her country.
Throughout her extensive foreign service career, Ambassador Ei Ei Tin has held critical positions both in the central administration and at major overseas diplomatic posts. Notably, she served as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where she masterfully navigated complex political committees during times of intense national transition. Her appointment and ongoing leadership in Geneva are marked by an unwavering commitment to the rules-based international order, democratic principles, and the representation of the true will of the Myanmar people on the global stage.
History
The presence of Myanmar in International Geneva is currently one of the most politically acute and legally significant in the entire United Nations system, characterized by a principled struggle for democratic legitimacy and human rights survival.
The Permanent Mission in Geneva serves as the country's primary and critical voice inside the UN Human Rights Council, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Historically and contextually, the mission’s core mandate under Ambassador Ei Ei Tin’s leadership is focused entirely on advocating for the restoration of democracy, exposing systematic human rights violations and atrocities committed against civilians, and securing humanitarian aid for displaced populations. The mission works in constant coordination with international investigative mechanisms to ensure accountability, while simultaneously trying to protect the socio-economic and public health interests of the population through collaborations with international relief agencies.
