H.E. Mrs. Davaasuren Gerelmaa is an exceptionally accomplished career diplomat within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia. Possessing extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy, international law, and strategic security, she assumed her high-level duties in Geneva with an impeccable track record.

Before her strategic ambassadorial deployment to Geneva, Ambassador Gerelmaa occupied key leadership roles within the central administration in Ulaanbaatar, notably serving as the Director-General of the Department for Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Throughout her distinguished career, she has masterfully coordinated Mongolia's engagements with the United Nations, the OSCE, and various regional forums. Her previous foreign postings include high-level assignments that focused heavily on human rights, disarmament, and socio-economic development. She is recognized within the diplomatic corps for her sharp analytical skills, her dedication to advancing gender equality, and her active role in shaping Mongolia’s progressive, peace-oriented foreign policy.

History

Mongolia’s diplomatic strategy in International Geneva is deeply defined by its peaceful, independent, and multi-pillared foreign policy, as well as its specific challenges as a landlocked economy vulnerable to extreme climate shifts (such as the dzud – severe winter conditions).

The Permanent Mission in Geneva serves as Mongolia's primary link to the UN Human Rights Council, the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Historically, the mission is a leading global voice in advocating for the structural and economic needs of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), famously hosting the International Think Tank for LLDCs. Under Ambassador Gerelmaa's leadership, the mission actively focuses on integrating human rights with environmental protection, promoting women's political and economic empowerment, and securing technical cooperation for sustainable agriculture. Furthermore, Mongolia maintains a strong, principled stance in Geneva on nuclear disarmament and international security dialogue.
