Ambassador Francisco Quiroga presented the Ohtli Award to Begoña de la Marta Zapata, in recognition of her remarkable support for the professional and entrepreneurial integration of Mexican women in Germany. Granted by the Government of Mexico through the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, the Ohtli Award is one of the nation’s highest distinctions, celebrating individuals who dedicate their efforts to the empowerment and well-being of Mexican communities around the world.

Through her dedication and leadership, Begoña de la Marta Zapata has become a key ally of the Embassy and a pillar of the Mexican diaspora in Germany, fostering spaces of collaboration, mentorship and growth for women seeking to strengthen their professional and personal development abroad.

In the same ceremony, Ambassador Quiroga also conferred the Distinguished Mexican Award 2025 upon Dr. Robert Cárcamo, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the generation of knowledge applied to agri-food public policies and sustainable rural development. This recognition, also granted by the Government of Mexico, highlights his role as a prominent Mexican professional whose work enhances Mexico’s image and prestige in Germany.
