Amb. Aicha Vall Verges
H.E. Mrs. Aicha Vall Verges is a pioneering stateswoman, gender advocate, and heavyweight diplomat within the political architecture of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Known for her exceptional leadership in public administration and social reform, she assumed her high-level duties in Geneva with a formidable professional record.
Before her strategic ambassadorial deployment to Geneva, Ambassador Vall Verges occupied several of the highest executive offices in Nouakchott. Notably, she served as Mauritania’s Minister of Social Affairs, Childhood, and the Family, where she spearheaded sweeping national initiatives to promote women's political empowerment, combat gender-based violence, and strengthen social safety nets for marginalized communities. She also served as the head of major national administrative bodies, including the National Tourism Office. Her deep, practical expertise in sustainable development, human rights integration, and regional West African governance makes her an incredibly authoritative voice within the multilateral arena.

Mauritania’s diplomatic footprint in International Geneva is intensely focused on leveraging multilateral cooperation to bridge socio-economic development with regional security, human rights progress, and climate resilience.
The Permanent Mission in Geneva serves as Mauritania's primary pipeline to the UN Human Rights Council, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Historically, the mission's core strategies center on showcasing Mauritania's legislative advancements in eliminating residual forms of traditional servitude, managing large-scale regional refugee flows (particularly from neighboring Mali), and boosting agricultural trade. Under Ambassador Vall Verges’s leadership, the mission actively collaborates with the ILO to strengthen labor rights, partners with global health organizations to improve maternal care, and advocates for technical assistance to adapt Mauritania's fragile Sahelian ecosystem to global climate change.
