History
Austria and Madagascar established diplomatic relations in 1967. Relations are friendly but relatively modest, with cooperation focused on business contacts, development, tourism, culture and environmental issues. Austria has maintained honorary consular representation in Antananarivo, while diplomatic relations are managed through non-resident accreditation. The two countries also cooperate through the United Nations and wider European-African frameworks.
