Amb. Lamia Fathi Abusedra
H.E. Ms. Lamia Fathi Abusedra is a prominent Libyan political figure, civil society leader, and diplomat. Uniquely trained as an electrical engineer, she transitioned into public governance following the 2011 revolution, emerging as one of the country's leading advocates for democratic transition, media freedom, and women's political empowerment.
Before her ambassadorial posting to Geneva, Ambassador Abusedra served as Libya's Deputy Minister of Information, where she worked extensively on restructuring national media frameworks during a turbulent transition period. She is also the co-founder of several influential non-governmental organizations focusing on youth engagement, constitutional awareness, and gender equality in North Africa. Her deep practical expertise in civil society coordination and post-conflict institutional building gives her a powerful, distinct voice in multilateral human rights and humanitarian forums.
