The Ambassador
Amb. Tzipi Hotovely
Tzipi Hotovely is an Israeli lawyer, politician and diplomat. She served as a member of the Knesset from 2009 to 2020 and held several government posts, including Deputy Foreign Minister and ministerial responsibilities for diaspora and settlement affairs. She was appointed Ambassador to the United Kingdom in 2020 and served in London until 2025.
History
Bilateral ties between Israel and the United Kingdom are historic, deep-rooted, and highly complex. Formally established in 1949 following Israel's declaration of independence, the relationship has evolved into a comprehensive alliance anchored by the UK-Israel 2030 Roadmap, a sweeping framework that locks in structural defense, trade, and cyber-security synchronization. The embassy commands a heavily secured, independent compound tucked away in Kensington.
The Embassy of Israel in London operates as a high-velocity operational command center for executing advanced defense statecraft, technological corridor trade, and counter-terrorism coordination between Jerusalem and Whitehall. Under the incoming leadership of Ambassador Braverman and current management by Daniela Grudsky Ekstein, a primary focus of the mission is retaining strong, institutional defense and intelligence ties with the UK Ministry of Defence and Whitehall security agencies.
Commercially, the embassy's Trade and Economic Office works tirelessly to optimize multi-billion-pound bilateral trade. The mission channels heavy British capital into Israel's world-leading Silicon Wadi tech corridors, artificial intelligence sectors, and biomedical frameworks, while navigating complex regulatory updates following the rollout of the UK's Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) systems. Furthermore, the embassy hosts an active public diplomacy and cultural division alongside a highly secure consular department on Old Court Place, processing travel credentials and providing vital civic support to the extensive Israeli academic, high-tech, and professional diaspora community thriving across the United Kingdom.
