José Alberto Briz Gutiérrez is a distinguished diplomat with over 26 years of experience at the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Guatemala. He holds a Master’s Degree in European Studies from the University of Deusto and a Certificate in International Law from the University of Amsterdam. Since May 2021, he has served as Ambassador in London. His previous roles include Ambassador to Brussels, Director General of Multilateral and Economic International Relations, and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. José Alberto's career showcases a strong commitment to international diplomacy, legal expertise, and multilateral engagement.

José began his career as an Investigador Asociado at CIEN in Guatemala from 1992 to 1994. His diplomatic journey has taken him across the globe, serving as a First Secretary and Consul in various embassies, including those in Costa Rica, Venezuela, and the United States. He has also held key positions at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, ranging from Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Counselor and Deputy Permanent Representative.

José Alberto’s extensive experience in international relations and his contributions to Guatemala's foreign policy have made him a respected figure in global diplomacy. His dedication to fostering international cooperation and his deep understanding of international law and socio-political dynamics continue to drive his work in the diplomatic field.
