The Embassy of Eswatini in Geneva

The Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) became a member of the United Nations on 24 September 1968, shortly after gaining independence from the United Kingdom. Since joining the Organization, Eswatini has participated in UN activities focused on development, peace and security, human rights, health, and international cooperation.

The Permanent Mission of Eswatini to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva represents the country’s interests within the Geneva-based multilateral system. The Mission follows and participates in discussions within organizations and UN bodies based in Geneva, including the Human Rights Council, the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other specialized agencies.

Eswatini has engaged with Geneva-based UN mechanisms, including through participation in the Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review process and cooperation with international organizations on development and humanitarian priorities. The country has also worked with UN agencies on issues such as public health, HIV/AIDS response, poverty reduction, gender equality, education, and sustainable development.

Through its Permanent Mission in Geneva, Eswatini contributes to multilateral dialogue on issues of particular relevance to small developing states and African countries, including sustainable development, international cooperation, and the implementation of global development commitments.
