History
Austria and Eritrea maintain diplomatic relations that are conducted mainly through non-resident representation and multilateral channels. Bilateral engagement has focused on consular matters, humanitarian and development concerns, migration, and peace and security in the Horn of Africa. Austria has maintained honorary consular representation in Asmara, while wider political cooperation is closely linked to European Union policy and international efforts concerning regional stability.
