The Embassy of Eritrea in Geneva

Eritrea became a member of the United Nations on 28 May 1993, shortly after gaining independence. Since joining the Organization, Eritrea has participated in UN activities and engaged with various UN bodies on issues including development, peace and security, humanitarian affairs, human rights, and international cooperation.

The Permanent Mission of Eritrea to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva represents Eritrea’s interests within the Geneva-based multilateral system. The Mission follows discussions and negotiations in areas covered by Geneva-based institutions, including the Human Rights Council, the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and other UN agencies and international organizations.

Eritrea has participated in the work of Geneva-based UN bodies, including through its engagement with the Human Rights Council and the Universal Periodic Review process. The country has also worked with UN agencies on development and humanitarian issues, particularly in areas related to health, food security, and sustainable development. Through its Permanent Mission in Geneva, Eritrea contributes to multilateral discussions on issues affecting developing countries and the broader African region.
