The Ambassador
Amb. Ms. Rosa Hernández de Grullón
Rosa Margarita Hernández de Grullón is a Dominican career diplomat with long experience representing her country in Europe. She previously served as Ambassador to France and has held additional European accreditations. In 2025 she presented her credentials as Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United Kingdom, continuing a diplomatic career focused on bilateral and multilateral relations.
History
Formal diplomatic relations between the Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom are historic, stretching back over 175 years to the mid-19th century. The embassy operates out of an independent, highly active chancery building located on Inverness Terrace in Bayswater.
The Embassy of the Dominican Republic serves as a primary command post for executing tourism statecraft, investment tracking, and agricultural market defense between Santo Domingo and Whitehall. A major structural focal point of the mission is Dominican Week in the UK, an annual flagship forum organized alongside the British Chamber of Commerce (BritchamDR) that brings together top corporate leaders and state ministers to drive direct British investment into the Dominican Republic's booming logistics networks, manufacturing zones, and renewable energy sectors. Under Ambassador Hernández de Grullón's modernizing leadership, the mission successfully opened a revamped, state-of-the-art consular and visa section to provide streamlined services. The embassy actively supports premium gastronomic, academic, and trade exchanges, while fostering strong links with the Dominican professional and student diaspora community thriving across the United Kingdom.
