H.E. Abdallah Azize Diabaté

His Excellency Abdallah Azize Diabaté was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the Federal Republic of Germany on 22 November 2024. A seasoned diplomat and economic strategist, Ambassador Diabaté brings a wealth of experience from both public service and the private sector, particularly in international finance, trade promotion, and development cooperation.

Prior to his current posting, Ambassador Diabaté served as Ambassador within the Central Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Ivorians Living Abroad (January to July 2024). From 2018 to 2023, he was Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Berlin, where he played a key role in advancing bilateral cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Germany.

Ambassador Diabaté’s career reflects a strong engagement in foreign trade, investment promotion, and diaspora affairs. From 2014 to 2018, he was a member of the National Network of Foreign Trade Consultants of Côte d’Ivoire, with responsibility for Germany and Eastern Europe. Concurrently, he served as the Representative of the Ivorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Europe, covering Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

In the private sector, he held leadership roles as Founder and Managing Director of CORFINAF Consultants in Cologne (2010–2017), and as Financial Administrator for development aid projects at GOPA Consultants (2007–2010). He also worked as a freelance consultant with Hydrophil-Consulting in Vienna and GOPA Consultants in Germany, and served as Investment Manager and Financial Analyst with DEG–KfW Group (2005–2006).

Ambassador Diabaté holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Cologne (2003–2004) and brings a strong intercultural perspective to his diplomatic work. He is fluent in French, German, and English.

Born on 4 August 1968 in Daloa, Côte d’Ivoire, he is married and has three children.

History

Relations between Germany and Côte d'Ivoire have traditionally been friendly. 

Germany has large body of support and also an excellent reputation in Côte d'Ivoire. The bilateral development relationship has intensified since April 2011. In 2014 Côte d'Ivoire pledged funds amounting to 51 million euros to be used for energy and the development of natural and economic areas in Tai. In both 2015 and 2016 Germany made ​​commitments amounting to 20 million euros for the development of health care in Côte d'Ivoire. Germany and Cote d'Ivoire have worked together since 1993 in environmental protection.
