Alex Wetzig

Ambassador Alex Wetzig holds a degree in History and is a Professor of History and Geography from the Catholic University of Valparaíso. He has postgraduate studies in Social Sciences from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO) and in International Studies from the Diplomatic School of Spain at the Complutense University of Madrid.

A graduate of the "Andrés Bello" Diplomatic Academy, Ambassador Wetzig has served in various Chilean embassies, including the Czech Republic and France. He has also worked at the Mission to the European Union in Belgium and at the Delegation to UNESCO, where he was the Deputy Permanent Representative.

Within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, he has held numerous positions in the Directorates of South America, Planning, General Directorate of Foreign Policy, General Directorate of International Economic Relations, and the Minister's Cabinet. Additionally, he was the Director of Energy, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

At the time of his current appointment, Ambassador Wetzig was serving as the Secretary General of Foreign Policy, demonstrating a strong commitment to Chile's foreign policy and international projection.
