The Ambassador
Amb. Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme
H.E. Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme is a Botswanan lawyer, public servant and diplomat serving as Botswana's Permanent Representative in Geneva and as Ambassador accredited to Austria. She is one of Botswana's most prominent legal and public-administration figures and has represented the country in multilateral diplomacy, including human-rights and international-trade forums.
Before her diplomatic appointment, Dr. Molokomme served as Attorney General of Botswana from 2005 to 2016. She holds law degrees from the University of Botswana and Swaziland and Yale University, and earned a doctorate in law from Leiden University. Her professional career has also included academic work and senior responsibilities on law reform, gender equality and public policy.
History
Austria and Botswana maintain friendly and stable bilateral relations based on shared support for multilateralism, international law and sustainable development. Political contacts are complemented by trade, tourism, education and economic cooperation. Because Botswana's ambassador to Austria is non-resident, much of the relationship is conducted through concurrent diplomatic accreditation and international organisations, while an honorary representation supports practical contacts.
