H.E. Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa
H.E. Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa is a high-ranking member of the Bahraini royal family (the House of Khalifa) and a deeply experienced statesman with an extensive background in communication infrastructure, youth administration, and defense. He considers London his "second home," having lived, studied, and trained in the United Kingdom during his youth.
Shaikh Fawaz's formative discipline was cemented at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he completed his officer training in 1994, alongside pursuing higher academic studies in the United States. He entered public service in 1990 within the Civil Service Bureau and subsequently transitioned to the Pension Fund Commission as Director of Investments. Between 2000 and 2010, he held the ministerial-rank position of President of the General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS). He later spearheaded the comprehensive technological and structural overhaul of the country's broadcasting networks as President of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA). Prior to his senior ambassadorial deployment to the United Kingdom in August 2015, he served as the Minister of State for Communication Affairs(2012–2014), where he successfully implemented Bahrain's nationwide fourth-generation (4G) telecom strategy.

The embassy sits prominently in Belgravia's historic Belgrave Square, a central hub for Gulf diplomacy.

Historically, Bahrain has been a vital, non-NATO strategic military hub for British forces in the Gulf, hosting the UK Joint Logistics Support Base (HMS Jufair) in Mina Salman. Under Shaikh Fawaz’s long-standing leadership—complemented by his role as the Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps in London—the embassy focuses extensively on driving the UK-Bahrain Strategic Economic Partnership. This framework channels billions in bilateral investments across financial technology, banking, and renewable energy sectors. Concurrently, the mission actively engages with British parliamentary bodies to foster a nuanced understanding of regional Arabian Gulf geopolitics, while managing non-resident ambassadorial accreditations to Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
