The Embassy and the Consulate General of Belarus Participates in Commemorative Events
In April-May 2024, a series of commemorative events dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus were held in Berlin
May 13th, 2024In April-May 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Federal Republic of Germany and the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Munich took part in a series of commemorative events dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War and timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders.
On Victory Day, May 9, the Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Belarus in the Federal Republic of Germany, Andrei Shuplyak, and the Embassy staff honored the memory of the fallen Soviet soldiers and laid wreaths at the monuments in Berlin memorial complexes in Treptower Park and Tiergarten.
The solemn ceremonies were attended by ambassadors and employees of embassies, military attachés of Russia and the CIS countries, a number of other states, representatives of public organizations and the media of Germany, as well as compatriots. On the same day, Belarusian diplomats took part in a solemn commemorative event at the memorial to the fallen Soviet soldiers at the military cemetery in Schwedt (Brandenburg).
On May 9, the Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Munich, Kirill Dragun, took part in the wreath-laying and flower-laying ceremonies at the memorial complexes on the territory of the former Dachau concentration camp and the SS shooting range in Hebertshausen, as well as at the burial site of Soviet prisoners of war at the southern cemetery of Nuremberg (Bavaria).
On May 8, Chargé d'Affaires Andriy Shuplyak, took part in a joint wreath-laying ceremony with colleagues from Russia and Kyrgyzstan at the Soviet memorial complex Schönholzer Heide (Berlin), where more than 13,000 soldiers and officers of the Red Army are buried.
On April 21, the head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission took part in a commemorative ceremony at the Seelow Heights memorial (Brandenburg), dedicated to the memory of Soviet soldiers who died in the battle for Berlin.
On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the liberation of the former concentration camps located in Germany, wreaths from the Embassy of Belarus in memory of their victims and prisoners, including those from Belarus, as well as for the Soviet servicemen who took part in the liberation of the concentration camps, were laid in the memorial complexes of Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück (Brandenburg), Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora (Thuringia).
On April 27, the head and staff of the Belarusian Embassy together with German activists laid flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators at the military cemetery in Wittenberg (Saxony-Anhalt).
On April 26, a wreath was laid by the Belarusian diplomatic mission at the "Meeting on the Elbe" monument dedicated to the meeting of the Allied troops on the Elbe River in Torgau (Saxony).
