The Embassies of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania organize the Baltic Midsummer Festival at the Garden of the European Academy of Berlin.

The Baltic Johannisfest will take place on Sunday 23rd of June at the Garden of the European Academy of Berlin, located at Bismarckallee 46/48. The event will begin with a brief greeting from the ambassadors of the three Baltic countries. This warm welcome will be followed by a series of shows so as to entertain the attendees. In addition, folk music groups such as Audru Joelaevanduse Punt will liven up the gathering.

It is an excellent opportunity to celebrate traditions while dancing and singing next to the fire. There will also be stands where Baltic delicacies can be bought at very reasonable prices, as well as workshops where it is possible to make a wide range of handicrafts, such as the traditional wreaths of flowers.

The Midsummer Festival is closely related to the popular culture of the Baltic countries. In fact, it is considered to be the time of the year to esteem and celebrate clear and short nights, as well as to worship sunlight. St John’s day is one of the oldest folklore festivals of the region and it perfectly reflects the richness of the cultural heritage of the Baltic countries.
