The Asia-Pacific Weeks in Berlin
Germany's Largest Event Series Related to Asia Will Take Place in May/June 2016
January 18th, 2016Asia-Pacific is a region with enormous growth rates. The Asia-Pacific Weeks in Berlin are Germany's largest event series related to Asia, which focuses on the exchange of knowledge between Berlin and the Asia-Pacific region in the fields of business, science, culture and society. Its main aim is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information relating to major topics including politics and business, science and research and culture and society. All events address these themes through various forms such as workshops, panels, expert-led tours and exhibitions.
The slogan of the previous Asia-Pacific Week, in 2015, was “Smart Cities”, which analyzed the global future and the rapidly increasing urbanization taking place. Therefore the main topic was the use of energy and other resources in cities. Furthermore, other discussion points were the opportunities offered by large cities, and their level of efficiency to provide favorable conditions for economic growth and productivity. Its goals were highlighted as searching for solutions to these challenges which can be achieved by the cooperation of businesses, government, administration and politics.
The main focus of this year's Asia-Europe Innovation Dialogue, the 11th Asia-Pacific Weeks, is dedicated to startups and their ecosystems. This means the locations, context and interaction networks for start-ups, growth and innovation. The ecosystems include universities and research institutes as well as founders and conveyors, VC funds, angel investors, service providers and established companies as strategic partners as well. The Asia-Pacific Weeks are organised by the Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin in cooperation with the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research, and with Berlin Partner GmbH. The event will take place from May 23rd to June 3rd 2016.
