The 15. Japanese Film Festival Hamburg
May 23rd, 2014
News from Berlin- The tension is mounting as the 15. Japanese Film Festival approaches - ever since the establishment of the Japanese Film Festival in 1998, it has been a cultural bridge between Japan and Germany. This year the fifteenth edition of the festival will be held from May 28th until June 1st. It will take place at different locations in Hamburg, for example in the cinema 3001 and the Metropolis.
Nearly a hundred films will be shown during the festival. There not only will be films from Japanese producers, but also film premières of European and German films. So the festival will give an overview of the colourful diversity of current film productions.
The festival will be opened with the film ‘Ken & Mary: The Asian Truck Express’. Another highlight of this year’s festival, is the guest of honour, Screaming Mad George. In cooperation with the Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg, a part of his arts exhibition will be shown to the public.
Furthermore, many directors, actors and producers from Japan will present their films in person. This way the visitors have the possibility to talk with the makers of the films.
For more information on the films please consult the website for film summaries and the timetable of showings with their locations:
