On Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, the South Africa-Germany Economic Consultative Forum convened in Berlin, fostering deeper diplomatic and economic collaboration between the two nations. Hosted by the South African Embassy, the meeting was chaired by Minister Plenipotentiary Andries Oosthuizen and attended by H.E. Stone Sizani, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Germany, alongside key embassy officials. Discussions focused on South Africa’s strategic objectives during its Presidency of the G20 and explored opportunities for strengthening bilateral relations.

Participants included representatives from the German Federal Chancellery, Federal Foreign Office, and prominent institutions such as Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), the German African Business Association, and the Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ). The meeting underscored the importance of fostering mutual understanding and partnership in addressing global challenges, with cultural diplomacy serving as a vital tool in building bridges between South Africa and Germany.

By combining diplomatic dialogue with economic engagement, the forum highlighted the embassy's role in enhancing bilateral ties. As South Africa leads the G20, this collaboration reflects shared values of inclusivity and global cooperation, reinforcing the importance of cultural diplomacy in promoting sustainable growth and international solidarity.
