Somalia Takes Part in Leadership Transition Ceremony of Somali Community in Germany
Dortmund event marks a new chapter for community leadership and engagement
August 13th, 2025The Embassy of Somalia in Germany actively participated this week in the official handover ceremony of the Somali Community Association in Germany, held in the city of Dortmund. The event brought together community members, local leaders, and Somali diplomats to celebrate the transition of leadership and highlight the community’s role in fostering cultural ties and social cohesion within Germany.
The ceremony marked the appointment of Ibrahim Ishaq Hussein as the new President of the Somali Community Association, alongside Vice President Ali Abdurahman, Secretary Fatuma Isman, and Treasurer Adan Samatar. The outgoing committee, which had overseen numerous community initiatives, was formally thanked for its dedication and achievements. Ambassador Abdiasis Mohamud Mohamed Farabadane and Deputy Ambassador Dahir Salad Hassan personally congratulated the new board, wishing them success in fulfilling their responsibilities to the community.
Speaking at the event, the Somali diplomats emphasized the importance of active community engagement, cultural preservation, and integration into German society. They also underlined the Embassy’s commitment to supporting Somali diaspora organizations, encouraging collaboration, and ensuring that Somali citizens abroad remain connected to both their heritage and their host country.
