The wine tasting was a clear attempt to promote Kiwi culture in Germany, as the most prominent wines of the country were offered. His Excellency Rupert Holborow, New Zea-land Ambassador to Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Liechtenstein also took part to the event.

Club Vilanova, famous for organising wine themed events, along with the Embassy of New Zealand, organised a wine tasting, on the 3rd of July at 7pm, at the famous Adler Hotel in the city centre of Berlin, in order to promote New Zealand culture in Berlin through its most prestigious wines. The ticket of the event, which secured tasting of five wines, food, and the opportunity to network, costed 40 euros per person. The five wines offered at the degustation were the following: the 2018 Sliding Hill Sauvignon Blanc, 2018 Auntsfield Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc, 2017 Auntsfield Single Vineyard Chardonnay, 2017 Sliding Hill Pinot Noir, 2017 Auntsfield Single Vineyard Pinot Noir.

The event may be considered as one of the many tools employed by the New Zealand Embassy to make Kiwis feel at home while living in Berlin, and to introduce Germans to elements of New Zealand culture, wine in this case, which is at times not the most popular wine choice in Europe, where French, Italian and Californian wine are chosen over them.
