On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy, represented by Ms. Sasipin Siripakdee, Minister Counselor for Education, along with Mr. Phanot Preechayanut and Ms. Pochana Chaowasukhum, attended the Kathin Ceremony 2024 at the Thai-German Sanghathan Temple in Berlin. This event, an important part of the Buddhist tradition, was celebrated by the Thai community in Germany, attracting over 100 attendees, including members from neighboring states and even the Swiss Confederation.

The Kathin Ceremony began with Buddhist chanting, setting a serene atmosphere for the gathering. This was followed by traditional alms giving, a food offering to six monks, meditation, and a Kathin robe offering. Luang Por Phrakhru Palad Phairin Siriwattano, abbot of Sanghathan Temple in Nonthaburi Province, chaired the ceremony, with Ms. Nongyao Apolinarski, Ms. Mali Metsik, Ms. Khampai Wiangheungpai, Mr. Phoraphat Meyer-Ochatch, Somwong (Thailand) Limited Partnership, and Sanghathan Temple serving as co-chairs.

The Royal Thai Embassy made a significant contribution by bringing donations collected from a donation box at the Consular Section. This act of goodwill joined with the Embassy’s own donations, emphasizing a collective spirit known as Kathin Samakkhi, or unity in merit-making. These donations contribute to the maintenance and activities of the temple, further strengthening the cultural and spiritual connection of the Thai community in Berlin.
